DAD!! You will be missed at every step of our lives ahead..
I remember
-
How your life revolved around the family and
just the family. How possessive you were about our family and how you loved us
unconditionally
-
Your decision of moving to the present location
3 decades ago which made a significant impact to our childhood, education,
career, outlook, and everything I can ever think of. How you used to work
overtime, always use Public Transport and cut other corners, so that we could
have a house of our own. We all will be indebted to you for this decision forever.
We are what we are because of you
-
You submitting application for all my competitive
exams during/after my graduation and you also reminding me to appear for it a
day before the actual event. You were so concerned about my career and finally
you were the one who convinced me to appear for the computer scholarship. This
made my life for which I will be grateful forever.
-
How you saved most of the money I ever sent to
you from US for household expenses. This later came handy in buying our second
HOME SWEET HOME.. You instilled the importance of savings in us and this will
go a long long way.
-
How organized you were in your documentation,
filing, taxation, remembering the due dates of premiums and maturity dates of
investments, getting passbooks updated on time, etc. I only hope I will get
closer to that someday.
-
Your caring nature towards your siblings and
because of which they rushed to see you even at the slightest information of
you being unwell and how all our cousins used to love spending their vacations
at our place.
-
You unconditionally supporting many of our close
relatives in times of need. You have made a big difference in their lives and hope
we carry this legacy ahead..
-
Your calls every evening on my way back from
work to check if I have started for home so that we could have our dinner
together. Once I answered your call, your response always would be “Welcome !!
Welcome !!”. I will miss you dad.
-
How you longed to have our weekend meals
together over family gossips. We now understand the importance of it and will
miss you dearly..
-
How we lived a simple and contented life with
basic necessities fulfilled. We had a good and memorable childhood… viz. the
dinners every first week of the month, the travel to our native place twice a
year, the chocolates that we used to share, etc..
-
How you loved travelling and took us to so many
places around India. These memories will remain fresh forever.
-
How you changed with times be it investment in
shares, adopting new technology, wearing Jeans and Tshirts, coming to terms
with inter caste marriages in the family, etc…
-
How good you were at sports with your favorite
being Bridge, Chess and Carom. How you never missed any live telecast (from any
part of the world) of Tennis, Football, Cricket, Chess, Badminton, etc..
-
How particular you were about timings when it
came to having your meals. .be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. Will also
remember how you used to love having Banana after every meal. I guess this was the secret for leading a long
and healthy life.
-
How you never missed take an early bath followed
by your chanting of Mantras, Pooja and Prayer. You rarely had your breakfast
before this ritual..
-
How you hated hospitals and only relented on
seeing a Doctor to keep us happy
Over the past few weeks after you
passed away, so many of your friends and close relatives have showed up in
spite of their busy schedule and other commitments. Few of them flew from far
of distances to be with us for few hours to convey their love and support
during these crucial times. Never
realized that you meant such a lot to them. They remembered your one liners and
your pranks you played at the slightest opportunity you used to get.
“Mohan Anna” as they all used to
call you lovingly, is no longer with us. However you have made an impact in
this world in your own small way.
I know you were very proud of us and
all our achievements in life. I only hope that we lived up to your expectations
and took good care of you. I only pray to give us strength to live a dignified
life like you and pass on values you instilled in us to the next generation.
We all love you DAD !!
Daddy was such a unique personality .....all of us have been lucky for being at the receiving end of all his love and attention....principled ,disciplined, foresighted ,loving ,with an amazing sense of humor ,intelligent ,very protective,,,,,He believed in being there for the family ...ALWAYS....The belief that he is around watching over us will help us going.....
ReplyDeleteDADDY...yes , we will miss you ....starting with every morning tea to the last bite of fruit at night,,,
DADDY ,,yes we will miss you ,,,whenever a family picture is taken...whenever an idli looks up to us from our plates...whenever Adi and Richa make mischief..your voice will be missed...,,whenever the plants ask for water your care will be found lacking.. whenever we have any little argument your contribution will me missed..your phone calls just to get us back home ....our daily efforts to complete the times scrabble...your rounds to the banks..your every little effort to save the penny ....
How are we going to continue without your wise advice,,,which we may not have always taken but needed anyways.....
I am going to miss our little chats and your understanding demeanour ...if you are listening some where ....You have built a beautiful family,,thank you for accepting me as a part of it,,,
Just cant say it enough ...MISS YOU DADDY
Very nicely described Anand! So glad we all have learnt so many things from him. So happy that you started this blog in his memory. Let's try to keep adding to it.
ReplyDeleteI was happy that I could convey the same just 1-2 days before I left...in person to him. How the small things that he did help us shape our lives.
Sometimes I feel so sad and can't stop my tears thinking about daddy. We have not learned to express our feelings. Better late than never.
Please do convey the same right now to mummy too. Even I will try and remind mummy of all the hard work she has done for us.
She too has gone through a lot and sacrificed for us. Saved for us. Taken care of us so well. Given us a peaceful childhood with no worries. Just hoping we can express our gratitude to her often.

ReplyDeleteDaddy I miss you everyday..I miss you so much...Everyday in the morning I wake up crying..I don't know how to console myself..You have left a void in my life.. I can't express to anyone how you are being missed. I cannot cry with anyone...tears keep strolling down when I am alone. Some days I am crying in my dreams too. I just hope I can follow your principles in my life and provide for our family as you did.
ReplyDeleteYou had told me that you carried on when your parents passed away but you were much older than me when Ajja Ajji passed away. You were lucky ..but I am not even 40 and you left us. I know no matter how old we are we will miss you.
I still remember the day you carried me to kandivali as strange as it may sound as I was just 4. I also remember the day you came with me to Rachna college for my entrance test. I also remember how you accompanied me every step till my engineering admission. I can't thank you enough for all the support, the emotional support and just being there for me. Somehow today's its 1 month and I am here in my office unable to control my tears. I don't want to talk to Mummy while I am crying. I hope to console myself that your sufferings have ended..I have seen you in discomfort..hope you are peaceful up there. Missing you
Daddy missing you so much...its very difficult to control tears. I dont even want to accept that you are not with us..it is really difficult. I just can't see mummy sad...feel very terrible when she cries. Please give us strength to overcome the grief.i am trying to call mummy everyday and talk to her. She is also trying her best. Why did you have to leave...

ReplyDeleteI have a lot of memories of our trips. I admire that in the absence of internet you actually used to visit tourism departments in Bombay and only after ample research you used to plan our trips. I still vaguely remember you sending post cards to each of the hotels in south for booking. You used to follow up for acknowledgements. How detailed was your planning with bus and train bookings and all the places to visit. I still remember you being possessive of your camera thru which we have clicked so many pictures. I was old enough to understand and still remember a lot of incidents during our trip. You still are fresh in our mind and are being missed. The latest being delivery of our new car as you were always next to me while taking the delivery. I was glad your name was flashed on the LED display during delivery "Anand Mohan Kulkarni".
ReplyDeleteCan't thank you enough for bringing up us so beautifully that we are independent and are able to take wise decisions while raising our family. Hope we have also instilled the same values as you did in us.
I have been remembering you a lot in the past few weeks. I have learnt a lot of things mostly by indirectly observing you and your ways. I remember, how uncomfortable you used to feel, seeing us spending on expensive gadgets and/or household items. Your reactions are still fresh in our mind and we were always mindful when we used to spend then and now. We only raised our standard of living to the extent we could afford and this is without getting stuck in loan or excessive borrowing. Because of this we are living life kingsize, without any liabilities and peace of mind. I totally understand that this nature of yours was only becuase of your experiences and the struggle you undertook to migrate to Mumbai from our native.
